英譯：

Once,I let a true love slip away before my eyes
Only to find myself regretting when it was too late.
Nothing in the world can be as painful as this.

Just let your sword cut into my throat!
   Don’t hesitate!
   If the God would give me another chance,
   I would tell the girl I love her.
   If our love had to be set a time limit ,
   I wish it would be 10,000 years!

這是《大話西游》中最經典的臺詞，英譯出自《瘋狂英語》創始人李陽之手。表面看出現了復合句，似乎有些累贅，但是朗讀起來卻瑯瑯上口。其實正是那幾個復合句體現出了原文的意境。

Once I let a true love slip away before my eyes only to find myself regretting when it is was too late. Nothing in the world can be as painful as this. Just let your sword cut into my throat! Don’t hesitate! If the God would give me another chance I would tell the girl I love her. If our love had to be set a time limit, I wish it would be ten thousand years!

第一句中的…when it was too late這句是表伴隨的狀語從句，而并非時間狀語從句（不能理解為“當……時”，而應理解為“……而……”）；

最后一句“If our love had to be set a time limit, I wish it would be ten thousand years!”是一種虛擬語氣的用法，表示“要是…….就好了”，if條件狀語從句的時態要用一般過去時，而后面的主句則應為過去將來時。
